So what is a beach?
According to Webster’s it’s a: shore of a body of water covered by sand, gravel, or larger rock fragment b: a seashore area
But for me it’s so much more than that. For me, it’s life source, my happy place, where memories are made and culture is born. It’s a place where my grandparents would congregate in their Sunday best. It’s a place where my parents honeymooned, a place I frequently visited as a baby and toddler, a place of Sunday fundays and barbecues with my family growing up, a place where I spent endless hours with friends sun bathing, bonfires, beach houses as a teenager. A place I got married and where my own kids played, a place where my son patrolled and found his love of being a first responder and taught other young future lifeguards. It’s the place, my son proposed to his future wife and where they will be married in 2021. It’s the place I would walk my beloved spirit animal Cohiba “Cobie” the Dog and a place I would jog to clear my mind and find peace in the crazy beautiful world.
So I’m sure it’s all that and much more for many other people but mainly it’s a place that has a name, culture and story.
Each beach city in California has its own name, history, culture and what it’s known for. No two beaches are alike just like no two grains of sand are the same. My project is to create a travel blog to showcase California Beach towns and write about their culture, history and a tell a life story related to that beach whether it’s mine or someone else’s.

Maybe you should call this “ west coast beaches”? That way you can include Chile and Mexico and other beaches in between? And someday soon, hopefully, we can travel to Chile together and make our own S☀️L Sister story? Remember we’re supposed to go next year for my 50th birthday? 🤞 I love you and am so proud of you for making your dream a reality!
